FDA Warns Pet Owners to Be Wary of Online Pharmacies
All it takes is a couple of minutes and a few clicks of your mouse and you can order your pet’s medications for a discounted price from the comfort of your home and have them delivered straight to your door - but the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning against using online pharmacies.
The FDA has found that some online companies sell unapproved pet drugs, counterfeit pet products, make fraudulent claims, dispense prescription drugs without requiring a prescription, and sell expired drugs or improperly stored drugs. Drug manufacturers can’t validate the integrity of the medicine you are receiving from an online pharmacy and do not honor their guarantees. We can’t be sure the product is safe and effective either and this really bothers us. We want your pets to have the best!!
At Port Cities Animal Hospital, we continue to offer competitive pricing, manufacturer rebates and guarantees and incentives to help reduce costs. We have up to date information about all our medications and preventatives and can help you make the best choice for your pet. We currently are able to fill prescriptions and take payments via phone, and run them out to your car when you get here for pick-up! We are also happy to mail your prescriptions to you.
Next time you need to order your pet’s medication, give us a call at 920-682-6801, and we would be happy to help you!
